Loch Sport Golf Club

On the edge of The Lakes National Park
Loch Sport Rd, Loch Sport, VIC, Australia, 3851

Loch Sport is a coastal town 50 km SE of Sale, located on the East Gippsland Lakes. The town is surrounded by Lake Victoria, Lake Reeves and the 90 Mile Beach and is bordered to the east by The Lakes National Park with its abundant wildlife. Kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, emus, wombats and wallabies inhabit the park. As well, there have been many reported sightings of the Phylacine, the canine animal marked in a tiger pattern. Some of these were near the golf course. The most recent sighting was in January 2010. Fox baiting and ground clearance are thought to have contributed to a reduction in sightings in recent times.

Loch Sport Golf Club features an 18 hole, par 72 sand green course that provides a challenge on every hole. Loch Sport Golf Course is carved out of the natural bushland, having been created and maintained by local members past and present. The course presents a beautiful sight, especially in spring when the wildflowers are in bloom. It features many native plants and trees as well as abundant wildlife, including kangaroos and wallabies, at times emus "and even the occasional deer." Slightly undulating terrain and good bunkering (15 bunkers, well thought out placement). Practice net available. Loch Sport Golf Course is near the entrance to town. Competition days are Wednesday and Saturday, Annual Tournament in August. Visitors are welcome. Green fees $10.00. 18 Holes, Par 72, 5608 metres.
