Inglewood was an important gold mining centre during the gold rush years of the 19th century. By mid 1860 there were some 40,000 people in the area. Today Inglewood's population is around 1,000 and the town is the main service centre for agriculture based Loddon Shire. Two of the original hotels are still operating. Inglewood is the gateway to Kooyoora State Park.

Inglewood Golf Club is on the Calder Highway 40 km west of Bendigo, in the Goldfields region of NE Victoria. The season runs from April through September. The Inglewood Golf Course is an 18 hole, flat sand scrape course that is heavily treed. A railway line and a storm channel have to be crossed on the course. The club's annual tournament is held on the second weekend in July. Clubhouse is licensed. Competition days are Wednesday (ladies) and Saturday. Visitors are welcome and green fees are under $10.00.
