Glenorchy is a small township in the North Grampians Shire on the banks of the Wimmera River, 20km NW of Stawell. In 1847 the "Four Posts Inn" was built, and the town sprang up around it. Glenorchy was named in 1850, and became the first urban centre in the Shire. In January 2011 the Wimmera River reached record flood levels and many residents evacuated to Stawell. A gallery of Glenorchy flood photos can be seen here.
