Camperdown is an agricultural centre located on the world's third largest volcanic plain and surrounded by large salt and fresh water lakes, between Colac and Terang. Nestled at the base of Mt Leura, the town has a number of historical buildings and Heritage sites. Amazing views make it well worthwhile to climb the mountain.

Camperdown Golf Club is beautifully set between the crater lakes Gnotuk & Bullen-Merri, and you can see Lake Gnotuk from the course. Picturesque, scenic and challenging, it is found about 5km south of the town on terrain that is undulating to hilly. This is an 18 hole, par 72 course (ACR 68), 5,536 metres, with good tee beds and fairways - most planted with buffalo grass. The back 9 are particularly scenic, with tall tree lined fairways and views of the lake (and the 3 course bunkers).

Camperdown Golf Course is open all year round and the club is licensed so you can have a cold drink on arrival.

Getting there: From Melbourne, on the Princess Hwy through Geelong, 30 minutes West of Colac.

Golf has been played in Camperdown for a very long time. The photo is from a game on a private course in the area, from the late 1890s.
